The R129 was available with a back seat, which this example doesn’t have
I also like the panorama hardtop available on the SL, but I’ve never seen one in person.

I think pano was optional only starting in 97, maybe 96, but I think 97 for USDM anyway. I like it too.

I thought my Allroad was rare with a 1 of 300 manuals brough t to the US in its model year. 1 of 25, damn.
That building behind it is an architectural disgrace.
wouldn’ t the true unicorn have a 12 cylinder ?
they have a really weird way of storing the hard top. tennis balls?

I used to live in a building where someone owned one of these and had a spare space they used just for the top. Oddly, they used almost the exact same method, except they cut them in half. It probably wasn’t a manual, but I didn’t take note (though I swear there were more manual cars on that island than anywhere else I’ve ever been in the US). Clearly, this is a car you should only own with a private garage to rig up some system for hanging the roof from the ceiling or something.

The 500SL and 600SL weren’t available with a MT from the factory. Dog knows how many of these 25 are still on the road.

At first I thought it was just a regular McMansion but then I saw that wood paneling. Good God! Nice garage though. They both appear to be wide bodies so that’s cool.

yea, it seems like a lot of places like that put priority on quantity (of space) over quality (of everything )

But it’s almost like they didn’t even try to make that wall look good.
